🎶 United we stand! The Barcelona model for musical cooperation 🎶 The ECHO directors met in Barcelona at last week at the Palau de la Musica Catalana and L'Auditori for the General Assembly. Beyond the tourism industry, Barcelona shines as a beacon of cultural vibrancy, where collaboration among cultural institutions - L'Auditori, Fundació Orfeó Català - Palau de la Música Catalana together with Fundació del Gran Teatre del Liceu and many others - takes center stage and provides a virtuous example for other cities. Here's a glimpse into the inspiring initiatives fostering unity and access to music within the city's cultural landscape: Apropa CULTURA: A groundbreaking program that aims to make culture accessible to all, fostering partnerships between cultural venues and social organizations to ensure inclusivity and diversity in audience engagement. https://lnkd.in/gf-xKyyY Cultivadora: A platform dedicated to coordinating the educational programmes of the main cultural institutions of the city, for the benefit of professionals and audiences.https://lacultivadora.cat/ Vibe35: collaborative effort to offer a trans-venue concert programme at an accessible price to people under 35 https://vibe35.cat/ Barcelona Obertura: The festival, organised by the three classical music pilliars of the city, aims to position Barcelona as a European capital of classical music and brings concerts in unusual and scenic venues such as the "Concert a la Platja", a spectacular initiative that brings symphonic music to Barcelona's shores, transforming its beaches into vibrant venues for live performances with the stunning vista of the Mediterranean. https://lnkd.in/grEshNdg Through these collaborative projects, Barcelona's cultural institutions are not only enriching the city's cultural tapestry but also forging connections, breaking barriers, and promoting accessibility and inclusion. Together, they are weaving a story of unity, creativity, and inclusivity that resonates far beyond the streets of Barcelona. #BarcelonaMusic #CulturalCollaboration #CityofMusic #accesstoculture

Júlia Pusker reflects: “The unforgettable impact of audience connection on my Rising Stars tour” The most memorable moments from my Rising Stars tour have all revolved around the audiences. The people that attend these concerts exhibit incredible curiosity and openness to what we present to them, creating a truly unique experience where the communication through music feels even more vivid and reciprocal. As a performer, my purpose is to share what I find particularly meaningful about specific musical pieces and conveying that emotion to the public. Over the past six months, I've found myself not only giving but receiving an abundance of energy from the audiences. Their enthusiasm and presence serve as a real source of inspiration for me to continue on this journey. In your opinion, what makes a live performance truly unforgettable? #ECHORisingStars #Classicalmusic #LiveMusic

B:Inspired with Birmingham’s B:Music How does one team look after two very different, but equally exceptional venues? Town Hall was built in 1834, and in contrast to the great civic buildings of its time, was designed to hold public meetings, concerts and entertainment rather than a centre for civic administration. The historic stage has hosted the famous and infamous throughout its life, from Felix Mendelssohn and Charles Dickens, who gave the first public readings of his novel A Christmas Carol in 1853, to Queen Victoria who visited in 1858. Mrs Pankhurst and Lady Frances Balfour addressed Birmingham’s active and increasingly militant women’s suffrage societies from the stage and later Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Black Sabbath & Led Zeppelin all played the iconic venue. The cities younger hall, Symphony Hall, was opened in 1991 with Sir Simon Rattle and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra giving the first concert. From the moment the first notes were heard it was clear Birmingham had commissioned a masterpiece. It was described by the Sunday Times as “an acoustic triumph” and by the Daily Telegraph as “the best concert hall in the country”, a claim Symphony Hall can still justify – a pin dropped on stage can be heard in every one of its 2,000 seats, a fact that we demonstrate regularly! Top international performers from all walks of musical life have stepped out onto the Symphony Hall stage including Van Morrison, the Vienna Philharmonic, Gary Barlow, Joan Armatrading, Bruce Springsteen, Ravi Shankar, Liza Minnelli, Brian Wilson, Grace Jones and Cecilia Bartoli to name drop just a few. So how does B:Music manage two very different venues, creating memorable, uplifting, transformative experiences for solo piano impresarios and rock gods alike? By employing a team from all walks of life who are absolutely, unapologetically and deeply, deeply passionate about live music. Whether they studied at the conservatoire or had a life affirming moment dancing with strangers at a music festival, whether they’re front of house, back stage, in the kitchen or the office, the B:Music team want every single person who comes to one of our 800+ live events each year to B:Wowed, B:Inspired and B:Transported by the experience. Because that shared moment, surrounded by people who are passionate about the music being played, that speaks to our hearts, also speaks to our souls. All parents know babies respond to music but we forget that nearly all human cultures have shared music since their infancy. The bringing together of people to share music and dance is a tradition deep within our psyche, and one that B:Music is proud to give life to every single day.

Have you ever been to a concert in the Lyon Auditorium, home of the Orchestre National de Lyon (ONL) ? In 2021, ONL had the terrific opportunity of working with Rone, a very talented artist from the electronic scene. After 6 sold-out concerts in the Lyon Auditorium and the Philharmonie de Paris, Rone released L(oo)ping : the album’s live recording with ONL. L(oo)ping was also made into a feature-length film which premiered in French movie-theaters in June 2023. The film's director, Louise Narboni, captured Rone’s breathtaking performance with the orchestra and blended it with an impressionistic world dreamt up by five dancers inside the Auditorium-Orchestre national de Lyon. The building is an icon of France’s Brutalist architecture, much like the Barbican in the UK. Follow the music, and let it guide you through the Auditorium’s 400m² of stage, alongside ONL’s 104 musicians, and in and around the venue’s prestigious organ built in 1878. In March, conductor Robert Ames will lead the London Contemporary Orchestra and bring L(oo)ping to the UK audiences at the Barbican Centre. Watch the ‘L(oo)ping’ film by ARTE and Walter Films: https://lnkd.in/exK-Q-2S #lyon #classicalmusic #cinema
