In a business environment characterized by multiple challenges and rapid disruptions, managing our career has become far more complex than even before.
We strongly believe that a powerful way to reflect and successfully develop our career comes from mentoring, in which a mentor provides a mentee informal guidance to help her/him during significant transitions and/or in their current job by sharing knowledge and experience working out new ways of thinking, giving feed-back and creating a safe and supportive environment to foster development.
We also believe that Mentoring across the INSEAD Alumni network is a great demonstration of solidarity among alumni – a way to “give back” and share experiences.
We launched in spring 2017 the INSEAD France Alumni Mentoring Program. The fith wave of a Mentoring is under completion (43 mentee, 43 mentors) and is a great sucess (see the results in attached presentation). More than 150 alumni have been mentored !
We want to specially recognize the extraordinary commitment of the mentors, some of them being mentors for 5 years.
We are now preparing the sixth wave, and we want to ENLARGE the pool of Mentors to ensure in a second step a good matching between Mentees and Mentors.
This sixth wave will start in April and being completed by December 2022.
To become a Mentor, you should
Have 8 to 15 years of solid managerial experience
Be in active work
Possibly have already a mentoring experience (e.g. within your company)
Mentoring requires from the Mentors both commitments and capabilities. The first commitment is obviously one oftime and persistence, as a successful Mentoring engagement is a series of interactions spread over a period of around 6 months.
In terms of capabilities, you will fill in a“motivation form”enabling you to present yourself, your motivation and your strength for being a Mentor.
Upon receipt of your declaration of interest, by March 4th, we will contact you to organize two one-to-one interviews (face to face or digital) with two members of the INSEAD France Alumni “Comité Carrière”. (if you are already Mentor, you do not need to send any document except if your situation has changed)
The group of Mentors will form a real community with opportunities to share best practices and learnings from the mentoring program, to receive training and support.

Once the “Mentees” will have communicated their wish to be mentored, the process will be as follow:
Mentee interview : once the Mentees will have commpunicated their wish to be mentored, we will conduct in depth interview with each of them to discuss their expectations from mentoring.
Matching Process: once the “Mentees” will have communicated their wish to be mentored, we will identify a Mentor through a rigorous matching process.
Mentoring Agreement: before starting the “Mentoring” itself, we highly recommend the Mentor and Mentee to enter into an “Mentoring Agreement” specifying
Objectives of the mentoring set by the Mentee
Time commitment (usually a minimum between 3 and 6 months)
Modalities of interactions
Golden rules : mutual engagement , openness and respect are the key words.
Mentoring Tool Kit: mentors and mentees will be provided with a tool kit and some readings
Mentoring Follow-up: the “Comité Carrière” will ensure a follow-up of each mentoring and interact as necessary upon request of either Mentor or Mentee.</
