BUILDING BETTER LIVES,

TOGETHER.

Our Mission

Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a Thai-registered foundation with the mission to improve the well-being of vulnerable children and their families living in urban slums and construction site camps in Thailand.

The Thai construction sector employs approximately 600,000 migrants (ILO, 2023), out of which 40% are women (ILO, 2016). BDF and UNICEF’s evidence-based study (2018) states around 60,000 children live with parents in construction site camps with slum-like conditions. These children and their parents face critical challenges in accessing essential services such as education, healthcare and child protection.

The Challenge

To address this challenge, BDF supports children and their parent’s immediate needs (access to healthcare, education, and child protection services), empowers their communities through a peer-to-peer approach (training for youth, adults, and women) and creates systemic change in the Thai construction sector (advocacy).
